The Medieval world offered an ordered universe where Christ would someday return. That got crushed by the Enlightenment in favour of the eschatology of 'progress'. Then that was supplanted after the Moon Landing by a focus of humanitarianism; also economic liberalism after the fall of the Berlin Wall and collapse of the Soviet Union. There was some talk of a Pax Americana/NWO (e.g. "exporting democracy") under Bush Snr/Clinton/Bush Jr but Neocons couldn't bring the masses along due to all the new problems they created and the big lies of WMDs, blatant profiteering, etc. Pax Americana was perhaps the last grand vision.
The Social Justice cult is a reaction to loss of all grand narratives where adherents seek to find meaning in identitarian victimhood and resentment. Climate Change handwringing also provides some meaning and connectedness for the Left.
There is still a struggle between Global Capitalism/Global Bureaucracy and traditional national community sentiment, i.e. Brexit/Trump. Trump's speeches are full of traditional, rooted community sentiment, but there is no greater vision or plan to return to that other than rejection of the UN, patriotic assertion and protectionism.
I think the alt right does have potential to create a vision for Western people, though its too immature and repressed/oppressed at the moment, and I don't think even alt-righters have much faith in it. They should have faith though, because many of their ancestors faced much greater odds and oppression. When they talk of privilege as the hardwork their forefathers undertook to pass on a better world to their children, they are really on the mark. They are creating a ethnic brotherhood, advocating traditional values (in ironically very un-PC ways), and helping to push the overton window. Even Lindsay Graham is sounding vaguely alt-right now, perhaps he's realised that appeasement won't work anymore.
The more the Establishment push the nonsensical concept of Multiculturalism, the Orwellian lie of 'diversity is our strength', and malicious, parisitical anti-white prejudice, the more white people will awaken to the broader agenda of global capitalism and how it has invited foreign, hostile hordes to consume, prop up Ponzi economies, and disposs them. They will resent this and find meaning in their ethnic communities and heritage, and the need of that community's protection, strength and flourishing through families and children. Nothing binds a community closer together than being attacked by others.
Like for Jews presently, I think whites future will be obsessed with their identity and the need to find, protect and grow a homeland they can exclusively call their own.
